Michigan engagement photos at Warren Dunes State Park are always a favorite of mine. Samantha and Jonny’s session shows exactly why. Their evening was the perfect mix of dreamy and editorial. We wandered through tall grasses, soft sand, and along the water’s edge, capturing everything from quiet, intimate moments to fashion-forward flash photos by the lake. These two are tying the knot next summer at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and the Morris Inn Smith Ballroom at Notre Dame. After this session, I already know their day is going to be unforgettable!

A Dreamy Warren Dunes State Park Engagement

Warren Dunes is one of my favorite places for Michigan engagement photos. It offers such a variety of natural backdrops. From sunlit dunes to shoreline views, it’s a space that feels relaxed yet cinematic. Samantha and Jonny leaned fully into the experience—running barefoot through the sand, laughing together, and slipping seamlessly between playful and romantic moments.

We also shot a good portion of their session on film. It added that nostalgic, dreamy texture I love so much in engagement photography. Some of my favorite photos from this evening were the flash portraits by the water. They felt editorial and vogue-inspired, yet still true to who they are as a couple.
