An Of The Land wedding in mid-summer has its own kind of magic, and Deniz and Derek’s day captured every bit of it. One of the things I love most about this venue is how it gives you the best of both worlds. It’s just minutes from Kalamazoo, yet it feels like you’ve stepped into a peaceful, down-to-earth family farm where time slows down a little.
Their wedding day was whimsical in all the right ways. Soft light drifted through the fields, and the florals looked as if they were gathered straight from the land. Candid moments unfolded naturally against the backdrop of this gorgeous property. With thoughtful spaces and hospitality, the whole day felt grounded and inviting. It was the perfect setting for a celebration centered on connection, joy, and the sweetest in-between moments!

There’s something so peaceful about beginning a wedding day at Of The Land, especially inside the Farm Flat. It’s bright, cozy, and tucked away from the rest of the property. It really gave the morning such a calm, intentional start. The bridesmaids gathered around the coffee table making their bouquets, while the groomsmen filled petal cones and played cornhole between getting-ready moments. It felt relaxed and down-to-earth in the best way—exactly the kind of energy I love.
Once Deniz stepped into her floral-textured gown and Derek slipped into his classic navy suit, they met in the gardens for their first look. The gardens are truly the heart of an Of The Land wedding. Think rows of marigolds, soft summer light, and a feeling that everything around you is alive and growing. Their private vows tucked between the blooms were tender and quiet, a sweet pause before the celebration began. It felt so warm and intentional.

Mulberry is one of those ceremony spots that stays with you. The space sits under a historic tree, creating a quiet and intimate place for guests to gather. Wooden benches line the lawn, and the view feels simple and natural in the best way.
Dewdrop Fresh Designs, the venues on-site florist, added soft, garden-style florals along the aisle and around the base of the tree. The colors blended with the landscape and made the whole setting feel connected to the property. It was the kind of ceremony that didn’t need anything extra. The space, the people, and the moment were more than enough. An Of The Land wedding really shines in scenes just like this.

Golden hour at Of The Land is absolutely magical. Its softer, warmer, and the gardens just glow. It feels almost as if the entire property settles into a peaceful stillness. It was the perfect backdrop for their portraits. We wandered through rows of blooming fields, caught a rainbow peeking through the sky, and soaked in those last pockets of sunshine. Everything felt easy and light, the kind of moments that remind you why this venue is such a dream for a summer wedding in Michigan.
Their portraits were full of quiet smiles, gentle movement, and those in-between looks that tell the real story of a day. The land wrapped around them in every direction, and they fit perfectly into it.

Cocktail hour unfolded out on the edible patio garden. This 4,800-square-foot space is lined with crops, flowers, and lush perennial plants, so it already feels inviting the moment guests step in. Dotty, the vintage garden espresso and cocktail bar, served colorful signature drinks that matched the relaxed mood. Guests wandered between the hammocks, shaded pergolas, and fire pits while enjoying small bites and easy conversation. It was the perfect transition from their ceremony to the celebration ahead.
Their reception took place inside The Greenhouse Venue, a 4,500-square-foot space filled with trailing vines, soft lighting, and long walnut tables dressed in airy linens. The florals were stunning in every direction, especially the hanging installation above the dance floor. Because of the natural light and greenery, the whole space felt warm and intimate. Speeches brought everyone together, and soon after, the dance floor opened and the greenhouse came alive. Guests filled the room with movement and energy, creating a celebration that overflowed in joy from start to finish.
Outside, a s’mores setup waited by the fire pit for anyone who wanted a cozy break. It added a sweet, simple touch to the night and gave guests another space to unwind. With good food, great drinks, and so much joy in one place, their Of The Land wedding reception truly showed how special this venue is!

Of The Land is the kind of Michigan wedding venue that feels calm, welcoming, and deeply connected to nature. The gardens, the greenhouse, and the open fields all work together to create a space that feels intentional and down-to-earth. Because of this, it’s perfect for couples who value meaningful moments, outdoor beauty, and a celebration that feels both relaxed and elevated. And since everything sits so close to Kalamazoo, it’s easy for guests while still giving you that peaceful, tucked-away feeling.
My photography style is warm, candid, and rooted in real emotion, which is why I love photographing weddings here. The light, the textures, and the natural movement of the day all fit so well with the way I tell a story. I also shared a behind-the-scenes reel from this wedding on Instagram if you want a peek at how the day felt as it unfolded. So if you’re dreaming of an Of The Land wedding and want images that feel honest and heartfelt, I would be honored to capture it!

“We couldn’t be happier with our decision to hire Cynthia as our wedding photographer. From the very beginning, she was professional, communicative, and incredibly easy to work with. We have very limited hours with busy work schedules, and she was always so flexible in accommodating us.
She managed to capture every meaningful moment without ever being intrusive — it truly felt like she was part of the celebration, not just documenting it. As can be seen, the photos turned out absolutely stunning. Cynthia has an amazing eye and managed to capture moments big and small.
If you’re looking for a photographer who is warm, incredibly skilled, and somehow captures your vision perfectly on film – Cynthia is the photographer for you.”
